Fittonia Plant
A fittonia plant is native to the tropical rainforests of Central and South America. It gets its nicknames, nerve plant or mosaic plant because of the distinct veined appearance of its beautiful ornamental leaves. These veins are always a different color than the rest of the leaf and can be white, pink or silver. The leaves of a fittonia are about 2” long, green in color, and are attached to fuzzy stems.
A nerve plant likes bright indirect light but no direct sun.
Keep the soil moist, but not soggy, at all times.
Prefer warm temperatures between 70°F-80°F (21°C-26° C) and do not do well in temperatures below 60°F (15°C). Nerve plants require high humidity.
It’s important to prune any flowers that appear; this prevents the plant from going to seed.
Fungus Gnats, Aphids, and Mealy Bugs can sometimes be an issue.
Leaf spot, mosaic viruses, and root rot due to overwatering.
Re-pot annually with fresh soil if the roots have filled the existing container.
Fittonia plants (nerve plant, mosaic plant) are non- poisonous.
